Hocking Hills Rentals with EV Charging: The Complete Guide

April 21, 2026 · 6 min read · Trip Planning

Driving an EV to Hocking Hills is increasingly practical, but charging infrastructure in rural southeastern Ohio is still catching up. Here's the current state of EV charging in and around the Hocking Hills region — verified locations, what to expect, and how to plan your trip so range anxiety doesn't ruin a weekend in the woods.

Cabins and Lodges with On-Site EV Charging

Idyll Reserve

The most EV-forward property in the Hocking Hills. This design-focused cabin retreat offers EV charging at or adjacent to all five of their cabins. They market sustainability as a core feature, with modern architecture and zero-entry accessible options. If arriving in an EV is part of how you travel, Idyll Reserve is the strongest match in the region. Cabins sleep 2–10 guests, and several are pet-friendly.

Cherry Ridge Retreat

Features a dual-port ChargePoint+ Phase 2 Universal Charge station at the front office. They describe it as the first universal EV charger in Hocking Hills — meaning it works with all EV brands, not just Tesla. The charger is shared among all cabin guests, so availability isn't guaranteed, but it's a solid option for overnight charging while you sleep.

Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls

EV charging stations are available on a first-come, first-served basis, located outside the on-site restaurant (Kindred Spirits). They don't specify charger type in their public listings, so confirm the connector type matches your vehicle when booking.

Glenlaurel Inn (Rockbridge)

Operates a Tesla Destination charger. If you drive a Tesla, this is a reliable overnight charge spot. Non-Tesla EVs would need an adapter, which isn't ideal. The inn itself is a Select Registry property in Rockbridge, about 15 minutes from Old Man's Cave.

Public Charging Stations

Hocking Hills State Park Lodge

Four ChargePoint Level 2 stations in the main parking lot. They're public, available 24 hours, free to use, and use the standard J1772 connector. Download the ChargePoint app to check real-time availability. This is the most accessible public charging in the region — located right at the Lodge near Old Man's Cave and the Hemlock Bridge Trail.

Other Nearby Locations

Additional Level 2 chargers are listed at the Worthington of Logan Hotel in downtown Logan and at Paws & Unwind Cabin (24-hour access). Stuart's Opera House parking lot in Nelsonville also has a charger.

No DC Fast Charging in Hocking County. The nearest DC fast charger is in Lancaster, Ohio — about 30 minutes north on US-33. If you need a quick charge rather than an overnight Level 2 session, plan your Lancaster stop on the way in. A Level 2 charger adds roughly 25–30 miles of range per hour, so an overnight session at your cabin will typically give you a full charge by morning.

Trip Planning for EV Drivers

Download offline maps. Cell service in Hocking Hills is unreliable, which means your EV's navigation and charging station locator apps may not work in the area. Download offline maps and note charger locations before you lose signal.

The Trajectory

EV charging in Hocking Hills is functional but early-stage. The state park Lodge chargers and properties like Idyll Reserve and Cherry Ridge are leading the way, but it's not yet the kind of destination where you can assume every rental will have a charger. Ask about EV charging when you book, and always have a backup plan. This infrastructure is only going to expand — the demand is clearly there.
